Circumnavigando is an international Festival of Circus Theatre founded in 2001 in Genoa (Liguria, Italy). Since the beginning, the event has been created and organized by the Cultural Association “Sarabanda” and its Art Director Boris Vecchio. Every year, the festival is able to offer a wide international programme from Contemporary Circus to Puppet and Street Theatre, as well as shows, meetings and exhibitions.
Circumnavigando is one of the first Street Theatre and Contemporary Circus Festivals ever organized in Italy and it has always been in touch with the main international events. In the last 16 years since its foundation, it managed to become a role model in the International and European avantgarde trends. Year after year, the exhibitions offer some of the best circus techniques in a real mix of different styles, new kinds of art, new generations able to reach a wide different audience. It offers a direct channel of interactive communication between the artist and the audience.
The Festival represents Genoa and Liguria at the international forums it is often invited to, such as the Circus Focus in Paris (France) and the Plataforma Rio (Brazil) in 2012. It took part at different European projects, where the collaboration with other worldwide realities put it in a very special position. Thus, opening to new work and art opportunities. Generally, the performance offers a strong mix of art and geographic contaminations throughout a structured cultural process. Through the Festival, Sarabanda reaches national and international audience interest in every city it performs.
